iPad 2 jailbreak difficulties

with 2 comments

Why iPad 2 Jailbreak is difficult. As you know that iPad 2 still doesn’t have a jailbreak. Ever wonder why that is? Well, it seems that the iPhone Dev-Team and the Chronic Dev Team have been taking a look at it, both MuscleNerd and p0sixninja are working hard to find an exploit to bring jailbreak to iPad 2, but things have been tough.

Here are some of hackers tweets:

MuscleNerd:
So far, our tests have shown my theory might be right 😦 (Once the A5 bootrom is off, it stays off until power cycle)
And another from MuscleNerd:
the bootrom is actually inside the A5, so that would require some very advanced decapping and optics
While p0sixninja added today:
Wow, I guess @MuscleNerd was right. BootROM just isn’t there… Guess I gotta go HAM on Apple now.
Bottom line is this is going to take quite a bit of reverse-engineering in order to get it to work. Apple is making it more and more difficult to jailbreak their devices. That said, if anyone reading has some knowledge that can help them out, it may be a good time to lend a hand.

Getting the iPad 2 jailbroken would mean that we are one step closer to jailbreak all the rest of the Apple iDevices coming this year including iPhone 5, iPod touch 5G or any new form of Apple TV they may introduce. We will see what happens, but at least now you know what the holdup is.

Important Note : If you own iPad 2 running iOS 4.3, you have to keep it and don’t upgrade to upper versions, as the upcoming iPad 2 jailbreak may land at the beginning on iOS 4.3. Please let your friends know this important advice.

iPhone Spying On You?

leave a comment »

In response to many of our customers asking us information regarding the rumors of the iPhone spying on its owner – we did a little digging and have some answers!

Yes – our  beloved iPhones are programmed to keep data about our longitude and latitude along with the timestamp.  This information is stored for popular applications such as Yelp, and Facebook to use. When you run your yelp application it uses this information to suggest local places of interest to you.

One could consider this spying while others do not. What ever your opinion may be – if you want to disable this feature and turn off this tracking then simply go into cydia and install “untrackered”.

Mission complete!

[Warning] New Virus for iOS 4.x Spreads on the web

I’ve just received this information few minutes and released it immediately. Send this alert to everyone you know!

The distribution of the destructive virus happens with a App from internet pages about Fake Jailbreak presentation called: “UNLOCK NOW FREE”. DON’T go to this page from iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch), if you do this, however, you’ll see -10-15 seconds of an animation followed by the text: “DOWNLOAD UNLOCK 2 NOW FREE”. Then it’s already too late and your information will be cleared (SIM and idevice information).

If you search information about Jailbreak or Unlock for iPhone or iPad –> search this information from Mac or PC, but don’t do it this from iOS device.

To stop this virus it is necessary to inform all internet users as soon as possible so this virus gets NO chance to survive…

iOS 4.3 Unlock & Jailbreak – Available or not?

with one comment

My iPhone Repair – The nationwide leader in flat rate iPhone Repair warns you NOT to upgrade to iOS 4.3 IF you have jailbroken or unlocked your iPhone!

As with every other firmware update Apple today released iOS 4.3 and closed the loophole used to jailbreak your iPhone. Yes they continue to play the cat and mouse game! But dont be disappointed – we are confident a new unlock will be released soon!

In fact there already is a jailbreak available (THIS DOES NOT UNLOCK YOUR IPHONE!), it was developed while Apple had the beta version of 4.3 released and it works on 4.3. HOWEVER this jailbreak is tethered – meaning that you will have to reboot your device every time in a jailbroken-state in order to access Cydia. So this makes it a very annoying jailbreak – we recommend just to stay away from it for the time being.

iPhone 4 users who were waiting for unlock on 2.10.04, 3.10.01 and 4.10.01 basebands wont be able to unlock their devices anytime soon, confirms iPhone Dev Team’s MuscleNerd:

“Sorry, there’s no news on the i4 unlock for those who lost 01.59 (or never had it). It’s taking longer than we wanted.”

Bottomline – if your iPhone is unlocked and currently works with T-Mobile or other carriers – LEAVE IT ALONE.

If your iPhone is jailbroken and you would like to keep it that way – LEAVE IT ALONE.

iPhone 4 Repair Microphone Issues

leave a comment »

My iPhone Repair – The nationwide leader in flat rate iPhone Repair has recently come across a large amount of iPhone 4 repairs with microphone issues. The mind boggling part about this particular iPhone Repair is that the microphone appears to work in certain applications while completely muted out in other applications!

For example – we have an iPhone in our hands that currently records audio with voice memos and during video recording – however when we place a phone call we hear SILENCE! Nothing is heard on the receiving end!

At first thought you would think that this is a software issue – so we went ahead and restored the iPhone 4 with no success. Logically we thought if the microphone records with voice memos and video recording then the hardware is functional – right ? WRONG!

We went ahead and took one step further replacing the microphone on the bottom of the phone connected to the iPhone charging dock and WALLA! It corrected the problem!

So moral of this story – when it comes to the iPhone 4 – don’t let logic and common sense fool you! A functional microphone is not fully functional unless it works in all scenarios. Maybe because it records in different bit rates during phone calls? Either way – if you experience this issue – give My iPhone Repair a call.
